Horse-Side Coaching & Tarot Sessions

Unbridled
Insight

Coaching, equine insight, and Tarot — brought together in one grounded experience alongside horses in Fort Lupton, Colorado.

Book Your Session

"Some of the clearest conversations I've ever had happened next to a horse who wasn't saying a word."

I offer one-on-one Tarot informed coaching sessions held horse-side in a calm outdoor setting, where the presence of the horse helps create a steady, non-judgmental environment for insight and reflection.

This work is grounded, intuitive, and practical. Tarot is used as a reflective tool — not for prediction — to help you recognize patterns, clarify decisions, and reconnect with your own inner knowing.

You do not need horse experience. You do not need a specific question. You simply need curiosity and a willingness to pause and listen.

Five Horses, Five Presences

The herd is Stella, Reesh, Banjo, Merlin, and AJ — five very different horses with five very different ways of showing up. Some are steady. Some are spirited. One will probably try to make you laugh. At the start of your session, you'll be invited to notice which horse draws your attention — a quiet pull, a moment of curiosity, or a sense of recognition you can't quite explain. Trust that pull. It's usually right.

Stella

"My Big Gray Girl"

Stella is the heart of this work and the horse who changed the course of my life.

When she was a filly, Stella was weaned early — before she was truly ready. I understood that feeling more than most. I was born premature and spent my first months in an incubator in Michigan, far from my mother in Kentucky. In a very real way, we were both mama-less girls — and I think we recognized that in each other from the very beginning.

When I first met Stella, I was leasing another horse at the barn where she lived. Every day, I would walk past her pen — and every day, I stopped to chat with her and give her pets. I couldn't resist her. Janice, the owner of J Bar 4 where we first boarded, noticed Stella's caring and interest in me before I did. She told me that every time my car pulled into the driveway, Stella would prick her ears and trot up and down the fence line, watching for me.

I would stand at her pen and tell her — out loud — that someday she would find the most loving person and have the best life. Little did I know, I was her person.

Stella chose me the way she chooses people in sessions — quietly, steadily, and without hesitation. Over the years she has taught me patience, presence, and trust. She reminds us that connection begins with simply showing up — again and again — for the relationships that matter.

Reesh, a chestnut mare with a bold white blaze, standing in the pen

Reesh

"The Lucille Ball of Horses"

Reesh is a true firecracker — a classic red mare with opinions, energy, and a surprisingly tender side. She is fiery, expressive, and full of life, but underneath that spark is a deeply sweet and engaging partner.

She has earned the nickname the Lucille Ball of horses, and it fits her perfectly. Reesh has a playful streak and a talent for making people laugh — especially with her signature raspberry noises.

People who feel drawn to Reesh are often comfortable with strong personalities or appreciate humor and liveliness in the arena. She reminds us that connection can be joyful, playful, and full of character.

Banjo, a flea-bitten gray gelding, face-on in pink sunset light

Banjo

"The Ballad of Banjo"

Banjo is one of the most balanced horses — both physically and emotionally — that I have ever encountered. He was Janice's go-to guy at J Bar 4, the horse she could rely on in just about any situation.

Banjo has a natural way of building confidence in his rider or handler. His steadiness and willingness create a sense of safety that allows people to relax, breathe, and trust their own abilities.

And when we're out and about, Banjo is known to create one sweet song — what we like to call the "Ballad of Banjo." He'll call out to his buddies with a familiar voice, reminding us that connection matters and that no one travels alone for long.

Banjo often draws people who are ready for steady guidance, honest reflection, and the quiet confidence to take their next step forward.

Merlin, a bay horse with a white star, walking toward the camera

Merlin

"Heart of a Trail Partner"

Merlin is a character in the very best sense of the word — steady, capable, and always up for an adventure. He has the heart of a true trail partner and the kind of reliability that makes people feel safe.

One of Merlin's greatest strengths is how deeply he looks after his rider. That dependable nature was on full display at the National Western Stock Show in 2018, where he handled the noise, crowds, and excitement with calm focus.

People drawn to Merlin are often ready for a steady partner as they step into something new. He reminds us that adventure can be grounded, prepared, and shared.

AJ, a bay horse with a large white blaze, gentle eyes

AJ

"The Gentle Empath"

AJ is a gentle soul with the kindest eyes — the kind of horse who seems to understand people before they say a word. His owner often describes him as an empath, and I have to agree.

AJ holds a very special place in my own journey. After my riding accident in 2007, he was one of the horses who helped me find my seat again — not just physically, but emotionally.

People who feel drawn to AJ are often looking for reassurance, healing, or the courage to begin again. He reminds us that progress doesn't have to be fast — it just has to be steady.

Ashley Mikel at the barn, braids and hat, looking directly at the camera

Ashley Mikel

My friends call me Dr. Doolittle — and honestly, the nickname fits. I speak horse as well as I speak human. That started with my granddaddy, Carl Mikel — a master horseman who taught me early on to listen to horses and really see them. He didn't just teach me to ride. He taught me to pay attention. That gift shaped everything I am today.

Stella saw that in me early on. Through my partnership with her, I developed a deeper intuition and a curiosity that eventually led me to Tarot — not as a way to predict the future, but as a way to deepen the channel between what we feel and what we know.

Horses help people settle. Tarot helps people see patterns. Coaching helps people move forward. That is the heart of this work.

That curiosity kept growing. I became a certified Dragontree coach and a certified Visionary Equine Cranio-Sacral therapist, and each practice deepened the others. Tarot gave me the language, coaching gave me the structure, and the horses — as always — gave me the grounding. Unbridled Insight is where all of it comes together.

If you're not quite ready to book, follow along on Instagram — I share card pulls, herd stories, and what shows up at the barn.

In memory of Janice — my first trainer, the heart of J Bar 4, and the one who saw what Stella and I had before I did. She raised Banjo and Reesh, and her quiet influence lives in every part of this work.

And for my granddaddy, Carl Mikel — the original Dr. Doolittle, and the master horseman who taught me to listen and really see them. He started me on this path, and he's with me to this day.
